December 10, 2025 – AccessOn Internet, a community-centered fiber Internet provider, is proud to announce that its first customers in the Afton community are now officially connected to high-speed fiber Internet. This milestone represents a major step forward in closing the digital divide for rural families, made possible through the USDA ReConnect Grant.
For years, residents in this region have faced limited, unreliable, and slow internet options. With the first customers online, Afton is beginning to experience what future-proof fiber connectivity brings to everyday life—from remote work and online learning to small business operations and staying connected with family.
“We are fortunate for this opportunity to bring the best Internet technology to our underserved community that has been in need for a long time,” said Jan Harris, site manager. “We truly appreciate these early customers who were willing to accommodate delays and interruptions and provided constructive input throughout the process.”
“We’re thrilled to see the very first homes light up on our new fiber network,” said Steve Ledford, AccessOn Networks, Inc. CEO. “Reliable, high-speed Internet is essential for education, healthcare, business, and personal growth. Through the ReConnect Program, we’re delivering fiber-optic connectivity that will fuel economic development and improve quality of life for everyone in this community.”
Initial customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many noting dramatic improvements in speed and stability.
Mr. and Mrs. Alston of Alston’s Reserve Nursery & Forestry were among the first to receive service. “I see a significant difference in the clarity of the picture—there’s no buffering or delay. When I’m watching movies, it never freezes up, and that was a frequent issue with other services,” said Mr. Alston. “Service is excellent and the whole process has been great. The technician took great care during the install—you’d never know they were here.” Mrs. Alston added, “AccessOn is for less, and it’s the best!”
“AccessOn Internet provides symmetrical upload and download speeds, exceptional reliability, and customer support from people who live and work in the communities they serve,” the company indicated.
Linda Lee, Customer Relations specialist, shared her excitement: “I’ve worked in customer relations in this industry for 23 years, and I am proud to be part of something that moves my community forward while keeping that down-home feel. That old-fashioned customer service experience is hard to find, and I want my customers to be lifetime customers.”
To celebrate the launch, AccessOn Internet will host a meet-and-greet on Monday, January 19th. The public is invited to meet the team, ask questions, and learn more about how fiber Internet can unleash their digital potential.
